November Focus:
Holy Souls in Purgatory
The month of November is dedicated to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. As Catholics, we believe the Church is made up of souls here on earth, saints in heaven, and those suffering in Purgatory. Through our prayers, we can help those in purgatory be set free from the human failings that block their path into the eternal joy of paradise. This month is a call to the faithful to pray for the souls of the dead, that they might be purified and share in Heaven along with the saints.
Prayer for the Dead
Do not remember my sins, O Lord.
When you come to judge the world by fire.
Direct my way in your sight, O Lord, my God.
When you come to judge the world by fire.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let your perpetual light shine upon them.
When you come to judge the world by fire.
Lord, hear my prayer. Let my cry come to you.
Lord, welcome into your presence your children whom you have called from this life. Release them from all their sins, bless them with eternal light and peace, raise them up to live forever with all your saints in the glory of the resurrection.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
And may perpetual light shine upon them.
May the souls of all the faithful departed, through your mercy, rest in peace.
AMEN
