What is a Mission? A mission is a parish-wide spiritual “Retreat'” often lasting several days and frequently held during Lent. During the mission, an inspirational speaker invites parishioners into a deeper relationship with the Lord through prayer, reflections, music, and visual aids.

We all have false idols that prevent a right relationship with God. We need rigorous self-examination to root out those weedy patches of our souls. As symbols of hope, seeds remind us that sacrifice is necessary to bear good fruit.

Al McCauley is the Director of Adult Faith Formation at St. Anthony on the Lake Parish in Pewaukee. He taught Theology and History at Pius XI Catholic High School for 24 years and was a Religious Studies adjunct for Cardinal Stritch University.
Al is the creator and host of the Catholic weekly YouTube web series Fish on Fridays and he is a frequent speaker throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He earned his Master’s Degree in Religious Studies from Cardinal Stritch University in 2009. Al is married, has three children, and one grandchild.
